WARNINGS Read Before Using Your Sega Dreamcast Video Game System 
CAUTION 

Anyone who uses the Sega Dreamcast should read the operating manual for the software and console before operating them. 
A responsible adult should read these manuals together with any minors who will use the Sega Dreamcast before the minor uses it 

HEALTH AND EPILEPSY WARNING 

Some small number of people are susceptible to epileptic seizures or loss of consciousness when exposed to certain flashing light* 
or light patterns that they encounter in everyday life, such as those in certain television images or video games. These seizures or km 
of consciousness may occur even if the person has never had an epileptic seizure. 

If you or anyone in your family has ever had symptoms related to epilepsy when exposed to flashing lights, consult your doctor prior to 
using the Sega Dreamcast. 

In all cases, parents should monitor the use of video games by their children. If any player experiences dizziness, blurred vision, eyo <>r 
muscle twitches, loss of consciousness, disorientation, any involuntary movement or convulsion, IMMEDIATELY DISCONTINUE USE 
AND CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE RESUMING PLAY. 

To reduce the possibility of such symptoms, the operator must follow these safety precautions at all times when using tho 
Sega Dreamcast. 

• Sit a minimum of 6.5 feet away from the television screen. This should be as far as the length of the controller cable. 

• Do not play if you are tired or have not had much sleep. 

• Make sure that the room in which you are playing has all the lights on and is well lit. 

• Stop playing video games for at least ten to twenty minutes per hour. This will rest your eyes, neck, arms and fingers so that you am 
continue comfortably playing the game in the future. 

OPERATING PRECAUTIONS 

To prevent personal injury, property damage or malfunction: 

• Before removing the disc, be sure it has stopped spinning. 

• The Sega Dreamcast GD-ROM disc is intended for use exclusively on the Sega Dreamcast video game system. Do not use this.) 
in anything other than a Sega Dreamcast console, especially not in a CD player. 

• Do not allow fingerprints or dirt on either side of the disc. 

• Avoid bending the disc. Do not touch, smudge or scratch its surface. 

• Do not modify or enlarge the center hole of the disc or use a disc that is cracked, modified or repaired with acfoesive tape. 

• Do not write on or apply anything to either side of the disc. 

• Store the disc in its original case and do not expose it to high temperature and humidity. 

• Do not leave the disc in direct sunlight or near a radiator or other source of heat. 

• Use lens cleaner and a soft dry doth to dean the disc, wiping gentfy from the center to the edge. Never use chemicals such as benztt u- 
and paint thinner to dean the disc. 

PROJECTION TELEVISION WARNING 

Still pictures or images may cause permanent picture tube damage or mark the phosphor of the CRT. Avoid repeated or extended use of 
video games on large-screen projection televisions. 

SEGA DREAMCAST VIDEO GAME USE 

This GD-ROM can only be used with the Sega Dreamcast video game system. Do not attempt to play this GOROM on any other Cl) 
player; doing so may damage the headphones and/or speakers. This game is licensed for home play on the Sega Dreamcast video game

STARTING A GAME 

Insert the disc you went to play nto your Sega 
Dreomcost. Use the Analog Thumb Pad or Drectbnd 
button to make selection! end press the X Dutton 
to confirm 

DISC 1 - Use to begn a game. To start a new game, 
select NEW GAME h the Title Screen To pby 
a previously soved game, select LOAD GAlv£ 
and then select the game you want to pby 

DISC 2 - When you frrch Disc 1, change discs as 
prompted on screen To pby a game previously 
saved on Disc 2, insert the rise into your Sega 
Drecmcasi select LOAD GAME and then select 
the game you want to pby

compatible peripheral equipment, the Jump Pack 
provides a vibration effect that can considerably enhance 
the game play experience. With the vibration function 
ON (see page 9), vibration will occur when you use 
a weapon and when your character gets attacked,

Resident Evil Code: Veronica is a I -player game. Connect

Never touch the Analog Thumb Pad or UR Triggers while 
turning the Sega Dreameast power ON. Doing so may 
disrupt the controller inldalfcatioo 
1 procedure and result In malfunction. If

accidentally moved while turning the Sega 


Dream cm power ON, immediately turn the power Off and 
then ON again, making sure not to touch die controller. 

To return to the Tide Screen at any point during game play, 
simultaneously press and hold the A, B, X,Y and START 
Buttons This will cause the Sega Dreamcast to soft-reset 
the softwa re and display the Title Screen. 

You can change the default button assignments using 
die Key Con fig option In Option mode, See page 9,

You must have a Jump Pack hserted h your controller 
to use this option

EXIT - Return to Title Screen

If the item you select is a weapon, EQUP will be displayed n the Item Commends. 
Weapons must be equipped n order for your character to attack. 


CHECK AN ITEM 


Open the Status Screen, highlight the item you went to check end press the Action 
button When Item Commands are dispbyed, select CHECK end the item will be 
dispbyed n the men whdow. 

When cn item is dispbyed h the man window you con rotate the item 
with the Andog Thumb Pad or D-buttons end zoom in/xjt with the L/R Triggers. 

To check the specific part of cn item move the part to face you end press 
the Action button. You may fhd some clues to solve puzzles by dong that. 


COMBINE ITEMS 


Open the Status Screen, highlight the item you went to combine end press the 
Action button When the Item Commends are dispbyed, select COMDINE, highlight 
the other item to be conrbned with the first item end press the Action button 
to combne the items. 

Certon items need to be combned to have cn effect. For example, combne 
a Handgun end a modification component to create a custom Handgun. 







































ITEM BOX 


Your character can only carry a linked number of 
items at a time. You cannot lose an item once you fhd 
it but you can use it up (like ammo, for example), 
h order to carry only the items you need at a specific 
time, you con store other itenns h an Item Pox. Item 
Boxes are located h various places h the game. 



MAP/FILE 

As you explore, you will discover maps and files (notes, messages or other hfarmation 
that will be automatically filed h your character's notebook). To view a mqo or file you 
have acquired, open the Status Screen and select the MAP or RLE command. 

MAP 


The area you have explored is automatically marked. 
Your location is shown by o V' on the mq?. Door 
colors indicate the foliowng: 

* Yellow - The door is not locked. 

* Red - The door is locked and you don't have a key 
for it. 

* Green - The door is locked but you have a key 

ffPMIPIIIilQ for it. 



These thhgs are also displayed on maps 

ITEM - If you have found cn item and ha vent taken it, the location 
of the item is marked. 

SA/E PGtMT - Shows a location of a typewriter. 

HEM DOX - Shows a location of on item box 

The room you are h is displayed in red. You con switch the floors of the budding 
by pressing the Analog Thcmb Pad or D-buttons f / J end chcnge stages 
by pressing 

To use Zoom Mode, press the Action button while a map is displayed. 

In Zoom Mode, use the P/L Triggers to zoom irybuL 

To return to game play, press the Y Button.

Sometimes you may need o partner characters help When you 
actudly control a pertner character, the Status Screen will change 
accordingly The controls are the same as for your mcr chcracter, 

!f a pertner character dies, the game ends. 

RANKING 

If you complete the gome, the Ranking Screen appears. Your rarkng 
is determined by various conditions. You may get something speed 
if you get a good ranking ... 

RANKING - Your iotd score. 

TOTAL TIME - Your totd pby time. 

NUMBER OF 5A/ES - How rneny times you saved durng the game. 
■ HUMBER OF RETRIES - How meny times you used retry 


















SAVING AND 
LOADING 


SAVE 


To save your game, find an nit ribbon end use it 
with a typewriter. Press the Action button in front 
of a typewriter end you will be asked if you went 
to save your gtme. Choose YES to save your 
game. When you save, on ink nbbon is used up. 

* To save your game, an optional VMU is required 

* While saving, do not turn off your Sega 
Drecmcast remove the disc or discerned 
the controller. 

* This game uses a nnaximum of 11 free blocks 
to create o save fie. 


LOAD 


To play a previously saved gome, hsert a Visud Memory UNt 
(VMU) nto your controller and insert either Disc 1 or Disc 2 
hfo your Sego Drecrmcast. Choose LOAD GAME and then 
select o save file you want to load in the Load Screen 




TROUBLE? 

CAN'T DEFEAT ENEMIES? 

* Lean to use your weapons efficiently 
Each weapon is best suited to 
destroying a different type of monster 
or zombie. Figure out which weapon 
you need, then put it to use, (De sure to 
equip weapons before a fight!) Hht: 
When a zombie dies completely, blood 
will spread on the floor 

* Know your enemies. Different enemies 
have a weakness against fre, add, etc 
Figure out enemies weakness end use 
the most effective weapon. Also learn 
enemies attack patterns.

CHARACTER? 

Search the background for Herbs end First 
Ad Spray. These items ore sometimes 
found on o dead body or h a desk or 
locker. Herbs can be combined and have 
the following effects: 

* Green = Light Hedng

* Blue = Cure Poison 

* Green + Green - Medum Hedng 

* Green + Green + Green = Complete 
Hedng 

* Green + Red * Complete Hedng 

* Green + Dfue = Light Hedng + Cure
